Policy Version: 2.0 | Last updated: 23 May 2026 | Effective date: 23 May 2026
🆕 Notice for Existing Users. This is Version 2.0 of our Community Guidelines and is a material update from Version 1.0 (dated 19 April 2026), reflecting the new community features released with the PocketPaw v2.0 app (PawMunity Forum with reactions / search / leaderboards, two-tier moderation, RSVP Events, PawTime, PawMail, Walk / Hike GPS, Dog Parks community, Referrals). If you registered before 23 May 2026 and only accepted Version 1.0, you must accept this Version 2.0 in the app before you can continue using the community features. New users joining on or after 23 May 2026 accept Version 2.0 directly during sign-up.
PocketPaw is a community built around a shared love of dogs. We want it to be a positive, safe, and respectful space for dog owners, shelters, NGOs, dog-related businesses, and every dog who gets their own PawFile. These Community Guidelines & Moderation Policy ("Guidelines") set out what we expect from all members, what content is not permitted, and how we handle violations.
These Guidelines apply to all content, communications, and conduct within the PocketPaw service on iOS, Android, and pocketpawapp.com — including PawRadar / PawRadar 2.0, PawMate / PawMatch / PawBark, PawHeart, PawHub (including Walk / Hike GPS tracking and Growth Marks), PawPicks, PawAdvisor, PawMunity (Forum + Events + reactions + search + leaderboards), PawTime, PawMail, Referrals, Dog Parks community, business profiles (PawPRO / PawPRO+), and all PawFile content.
Use of PocketPaw is also subject to our Terms of Service (Version 2.0) and Privacy Policy (Version 2.0). Violations of these Guidelines may also constitute violations of our Terms of Service.

1. Our Community Values
- 🐾 Dog Welfare First — animal well-being is the top priority.
- 🤝 Respect — treat every member and every dog with kindness.
- ✅ Authenticity — real dogs, real owners, real businesses, real experiences.
- 🔒 Safety — zero tolerance for endangering any person or animal.
- 🌍 Inclusivity — welcome dog lovers of all backgrounds.
- 🏠 Responsible Ownership — adoption, responsible rehoming, positive methods.
- 🐶 A Dog-Centred Community — for dogs, owners, and businesses that serve them; not a general human social network.
- 📊 Honesty in Business — merchants must provide accurate info, honour offers, and treat reviewers with respect.
- 🏆 Honesty in Community Ranking — leaderboards, reactions, reviews, and referrals exist to surface real signals; manipulation is a serious violation.
2. Content Standards
2.1 What We Encourage
- Photos / videos of your dog enjoying everyday life — walks, hikes, playdates, naps, adventures, growth milestones via Growth Marks;
- Honest PawPicks reviews based on personal experience with your own dog;
- Constructive PawMunity Forum discussion; thoughtful reactions (❤️ "support" / ❓ "reservation");
- Well-organised, inclusive Events;
- Accurate business profiles on PawRadar 2.0;
- Honest dog park reviews and useful visit-time signals;
- Promoting responsible dog ownership and sharing information about adoptable dogs through authorised NGO listings;
- Lost-dog awareness via the Lost tab;
- Meaningful PawTime activity ideas to enrich dogs' lives;
- Genuine Referrals between friends who would benefit from PocketPaw.
2.2 Prohibited Content
The following are strictly prohibited:
🐕 Animal Welfare Violations — abuse, neglect, cruelty, dog fighting, exploitation, endangerment.
🚫 Harmful, Illegal, or Dangerous Content — unlawful in HK / CA (current v2.0 markets) or any other operating jurisdiction; illegal substances; fraud / scams / phishing; disinformation; suicide / self-harm / eating-disorder promotion.
💬 Harassment, Hate Speech & Threats — bullying; hate speech based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, etc.; threats of violence; coordinated pile-on harassment.
🔍 Privacy Violations & Doxxing — sharing PII without consent; posting people without permission; recording private spaces without consent.
📢 Spam, Scams & Deception — bulk messaging / unsolicited ads (except Business accounts within Section 14 rate limits); impersonation; fake profiles / posts / events / business profiles / product entries / dog park reviews; coordinated inauthentic behaviour; review / RSVP / reaction manipulation; mass-reporting abuse; hidden keyword stuffing in forum posts intended to manipulate full-text search.
🔞 Adult & Graphic Content — sexually explicit material; graphic violence / gore; content inappropriate for general audience without warnings.
👶 Minors' Safety — exploitation, endangerment, sexualisation of anyone under 18; grooming; CSAM (immediately reported to NCMEC / equivalent agencies and law enforcement).
3. Animal Sales Prohibition
Strictly and absolutely prohibited. PawHeart is exclusively for non-commercial rehoming and adoption.
Prohibited: - Requesting payment in exchange for a dog (any framing — "rehoming fee," "vaccination cost," "transport fee"); - Facilitating a commercial breeding operation; - Advertising dogs for sale or soliciting buyers; - Linking to external sales platforms.
Applies equally to PawMunity Forum posts and Events and to any other surface (PawBark, PawMail, business profiles) — no workarounds.
4. PawHeart Rules (Adopt / Rehome / Lost — Rehome now PawVIP-only)
4.1 PawHeart is a pure-intermediary platform
PocketPaw does not screen, verify, vouch for, or guarantee any listing, listing party, or adoption arrangement. We provide a free informational channel. All adoption arrangements are made directly between listing party and adopter, at their own risk. Use the in-app Report scam affordance on every post if you see anything suspicious.
4.2 Adopt Tab
- Verified NGOs / shelters only;
- Accurate, current status; no rehoming fees collected through the platform;
- PocketPaw does not verify accuracy / availability.
4.3 Rehome Tab — v2.0 update: PawVIP-only posting
- Posting is restricted to PawVIP subscribers (anti-spam measure in v2.0). Want-to-Adopt text posts remain open to all users.
- No animal sales (Section 3).
- One active post per user.
- Up to 5 photos.
- 30-day expiry.
- Accuracy — truthful health, behaviour, care information.
- Want-to-Adopt posts — text-only, no photos.
- Local regulations — your responsibility.
4.4 Lost Tab — self-serve
- Submit a Lost report directly in the app (forced square-crop photo, MapBox location picker). Submissions enter the admin queue and, once approved, appear as coral-ringed pins on PawRadar.
- Email channel
lost@pocketpawapp.comremains as fallback. - Free of charge.
- False / misleading reports → suspension. Coordinated mass-submission to spam the Lost queue is treated as platform manipulation.
5. PawBark Messaging Rules
PawBark is a 1:1 messaging feature between accepted PawMates (and, in v2.0, with bookmarked PawPRO / PawPRO+ merchants subject to merchant opt-in).
Prohibited via PawBark: - Soliciting money / financial info / gifts; - Unsolicited sexual / romantic messages; - Spam, harassment, threats; - Phishing / scam links; - Anything prohibited under Section 2.2.
Safety reminder. Don't share sensitive PII via PawBark.
⚠️ Scam alert. Report suspected scams at safety@nextpath.hk or in-app. PocketPaw will never request money or financial information via in-app messages.
Non-VIP: 5 messages/day. VIP: unlimited.
6. PawHub Rules (Including Walk / Hike GPS Tracking)
6.1 Health Data & Documents
- Enter accurate health data to the best of your knowledge. Deliberately false data is a violation.
- Documents must relate to your dog's care. No sensitive info about others.
- Microchip number stored securely; don't share other dogs' chip numbers without consent.
- Growth Marks photos (the v2.0 rename of Time Capsule) must be of your dog only.
6.2 Walk / Hike GPS Tracking
- Manual start required. GPS tracking only while a session is active.
- Safety first. Comply with local leash laws / traffic / weather / terrain / your dog's condition. Don't use your phone in a way that endangers anyone.
- Privacy of others. Do not deliberately track or record other people's routes; this is a personal tracker, not a surveillance tool.
- Dog-calorie estimates are not veterinary advice. Simple weight × distance × multiplier calculation; not a replacement for veterinary nutrition guidance.
- Background location notice. iOS shows a blue indicator while a session is recording. The app does not collect location data outside an active session.
6.3 Leaderboard Honesty
PocketPaw's PawMunity leaderboards (Section 9.5) include a "most-walked dog" board derived from Walk / Hike data. Inflating walks by leaving GPS running on a stationary device, driving with the app, or any other artificial method is platform manipulation and may result in record deletion, leaderboard disqualification, or account action.
7. PawPicks Rules
PawPicks is a community-driven product database and review system.
Product Submission Standards. Accurate and truthful information. Deliberately false / misleading / fabricated submissions are a serious violation.
Prohibited submissions: - Products not related to dogs / pet care; - Illegal / dangerous / harmful products; - Duplicate entries (use the existing listing); - Submissions made solely for promotional / spam purposes; - Products promoting cruelty or exploitation.
Review Standards. Honest, based on personal experience.
Prohibited review practices: - Fake reviews (products you didn't use); - Paid / incentivised reviews without disclosure; - Coordinated manipulation; - Abusive / harassing content in reviews; - Spam / ads / external commercial links; - Personal info about other users.
Community Moderation Tools. Use Disagree Information and Duplicated buttons responsibly. Coordinated misuse (organising groups to flag legitimate products) is platform manipulation.
Tier Border. Silver / gold border on product cards based on the creator's PawPRO subscription tier. Tier indicator only — not a PocketPaw endorsement.
Nutrition Information Warning. User-contributed; NOT verified by PocketPaw or any regulator.
8. PawAdvisor Rules
PawAdvisor is a PawVIP-exclusive AI assistant with two surfaces: Chat and Insight (periodic AI-generated summary).
AI Limitations. May be inaccurate, outdated, incomplete, or inappropriate. PocketPaw doesn't verify or endorse AI output.
Not Professional Advice. Not veterinary / medical / professional advice — applies to both Chat and Insight.
Responsible Use. - Acknowledge the in-app disclaimer each Chat session; - Independently verify before acting; - Not for emergencies — call your vet; - No attempts to manipulate, jailbreak, or extract instructions / training data; - No content violating these Guidelines.
Data Awareness. PawAdvisor uses your dog's PawFile + PawHub data; sent to a third-party AI; may be processed outside your country.
9. PawMunity Rules (Forum, Reactions, Search, Leaderboards, Events)
9.1 Forum Rules
- Daily post quota: 1 per UTC day. Comments unlimited.
- Images: up to 3 per post, 10 MB max each.
- Content limits: optional title ≤120 chars; body ≤4,000 chars.
- Region & breed scoping — post in the most relevant board; off-topic may be removed or relocated.
- No spam — repeated identical / near-identical posts, especially across breed boards, are treated as spam.
- No hidden keyword stuffing — your post body must reflect its true subject. Search tokens are derived automatically; manipulating them with off-topic keyword lists is a violation.
- Auto-takedown at ≥3 reports.
- Reposting after takedown of violating content → suspension.
9.2 Reactions (❤️ Support / ❓ Reservation)
- One reaction per user per post or comment.
- Use them honestly. Coordinated reaction manipulation (organising groups to mass-react in support or to bury content with ❓) is platform manipulation.
- Reactions are signals to other community members and may inform leaderboards; abuse undermines the value for everyone.
9.3 Search
Forum posts are indexed via automatically derived search tokens. Hidden-keyword stuffing or other search manipulation is a violation (Section 9.1).
9.4 Board Covers
Board cover images are managed by admins and moderators. Don't request inappropriate or misleading covers.
9.5 Leaderboards
PawMunity surfaces weekly and monthly leaderboards (most-walked dog / most friends / most-active breed board). Manipulating leaderboards via fake walks (see Section 6.3), sock-puppet PawMates (see Section 12), or coordinated boosting is a serious violation. Leaderboards are recomputed periodically; entries appear and disappear based on real activity.
9.6 Event Rules
- Weekly quota: 2 series per ISO week. Recurring series = 1 slot regardless of instance count.
- Recurring: weekly / biweekly / monthly; max 12 instances per series.
- Accurate scope — don't advertise "open to all" if you intend to refuse attendees.
- Capacity & RSVP integrity — no fake RSVPs, no mass-RSVP-then-no-show campaigns.
- One-on-one events — for legitimate one-on-one meet-ups only. Misuse for dating or other non-dog purposes is prohibited.
- Venue safety — appropriate, lawful, dog-friendly venues; comply with off-leash regulations and venue rules.
- Cancellation — promptly via in-app cancel function.
- Auto-takedown at ≥3 reports.
9.7 Two-Tier Forum Moderators
- Region Moderators — region-wide scope (HK or CA); elected annually via PocketPaw's official Instagram poll; assigned by PocketPaw admin. May delete posts / comments, mute / ban, and edit posts within their region.
- Breed-Board Moderators (板主) — breed-board-specific scope; elected via the same annual Instagram poll; may delete posts and comments within their assigned breed board.
- Moderators are forum-only, region-locked, and NOT general PocketPaw admins.
- Moderators must apply these Guidelines fairly and impartially. Conflict of interest, retaliation, or favouritism is grounds for removal.
- Moderators may not use their role for commercial gain or to advertise their own businesses.
9.8 Offline Conduct
PocketPaw does not conduct background checks on event organisers or attendees. Meet in public, well-populated locations. Section 18 applies fully to in-person meetings arranged via PawMunity.
10. PawTime Rules
Community-shared activity-card library accessible from PawMate. Cards describe activities you can do with your dog (mental / physical / both, with difficulty level).
- Daily card creation: 1 per UTC day (admins bypass).
- Quality standard — safe, lawful, appropriate; no injury / distress / cruelty risk.
- Honest ratings & reports — coordinated false rating / reporting of legitimate cards is platform manipulation.
- Auto-takedown at ≥3 reports.
- Companion Time tracking — "+" tap logs a CompanionSession in your PawHub Exercise dashboard. Fake sessions to inflate counts are prohibited and may affect leaderboard standing.
- Trend notifications — push when exercise drops ≥50% over 3 or 7 days. Wellness reminder, not medical advice.
11. PawMail Rules
- Daily quota: 1 send per UTC day.
- No free-text — pre-defined items only (paw-print, treat, heart).
- Opt-out — Settings →
allowPawMail. Respect opt-outs; do not pressure others. - No harassment — repeated PawMail to a blocking user, or any pattern resembling harassment, is prohibited.
12. Referral Programme Rules
The Referral programme grants bonus PawVIP time to both the referrer and the referred user when the referred user becomes a PawMate.
- Genuine referrals only — refer real friends who would benefit from PocketPaw.
- No self-referral. Creating a second account to refer yourself, refer family-controlled accounts, or otherwise game the system is strictly prohibited.
- No fake PawMates. Mutually matching with sock-puppet accounts solely to claim the referral bonus is platform manipulation.
- No coordinated boosting. Organised referral exchanges, paid referral rings, or other inauthentic activity will result in revocation of bonus PawVIP, suspension, or permanent ban.
- Public sharing of your referral code is fine. Just don't deceive recipients about what they're signing up for.
13. Dog Parks Community Rules
PawRadar 2.0 surfaces community-curated dog parks with reviews, favourites, and an hourly-traffic chart.
- Reviews — same standards as PawPicks (Section 7): honest, based on personal experience, no spam / ads / coordinated manipulation.
- Visit data — recorded with 24-hour deduplication. Do not stage fake visits to inflate hourly traffic; this is platform manipulation.
- Favourites — favourite real parks you actually enjoy. Don't favourite parks you've never visited solely for the PawFile display.
- Map-pin abuse — pinning private property, fictitious parks, or harassment via location is grounds for content removal and account action.
- Dog-park safety — comply with off-leash regulations, opening hours, and any park rules posted on-site. Bring waste bags. Be respectful of other dogs and humans.
14. Business Account Rules (PawPRO / PawPRO+)
These rules supplement (and do not replace) the rest of these Guidelines.
14.1 Accurate Business Information
- Business name, address, type, hours, phone, photos, descriptions, menu, services — accurate, current, lawful.
- Misrepresentation (falsely claiming registered vet clinic, accredited trainer, certified groomer) is a serious violation.
14.2 Pre-Seeded Pin Claims
Use "Claim This Business" in-app. False / fraudulent claims = permanent ban.
14.3 Announcements
- PawPRO: max 2 / month;
- PawPRO+: max 4 / month;
- Relevant + useful to subscribers;
- Users unsubscribe via PawBark or by removing the bookmark anytime;
- ≥50% unsubscribe over 3 consecutive months → written warning; repeated breach → suspension or account termination.
14.4 Reviews
- No pressuring, incentivising, or paying for reviews;
- No retaliation against reviewers;
- Reply professionally — no personal attacks.
14.5 Promo Codes, Loyalty Cards & Bookings
- Honour published offers. Bad-faith refusal = suspension.
- Respond to booking inquiries in good faith within reasonable time.
14.6 Active Dashboard Naming Discipline
- PawPRO+ Active Dashboard refreshes ~5 min. Not real-time. Do not describe as "real-time" in user-facing communication.
14.7 No Vet-Specific Health Data
Even vet clinics will not receive individual user health data. Vets use PawPRO for marketing exposure only.
14.8 No Animal Sales via Business Profile
Section 3 applies fully.
14.9 No Misuse of Analytics
Aggregated analytics not for identifying / contacting / off-platform targeting. De-anonymisation attempts = serious violation.
15. PawRadar Status Ring (Set Honestly)
Every PawFile carries a PawRadar status ring that signals to other users how to approach your dog:
- Green — friendly / want to meet
- Yellow — training, do not disturb
- Red — not friendly / do not approach
- None / unset — not specified
Set this honestly. Knowingly marking an aggressive or reactive dog "Green" to attract meet-ups is a material violation — it puts other dogs and people at risk and may result in account action. If your dog's behaviour varies, choose the more cautious indicator.
16. Profile Authenticity
- PawFile must represent a real dog you own, foster, or are directly responsible for;
- PawFile contains information and photos of your dog only — no humans;
- Profile photos must be of the actual dog you are representing;
- No impersonation / deception / fake profiles;
- Honest temperament, behaviour, health, and status ring information (Section 15);
- NGO accounts represent real registered organisations engaged in animal welfare;
- Business accounts represent real, lawfully operating dog-related businesses.
17. NGO & Shelter Account Rules
- NGO accounts granted Adopt Tab posting access on verification;
- Provide accurate organisational information (registration number where applicable);
- Misrepresentation of NGO status → immediate permanent termination and possible referral to authorities;
- Listings must be accurate, current, and compliant with local animal welfare regulations;
- No commercial advertising or purposes unrelated to animal adoption;
- NGO accounts inherit free PawPRO+ entitlement; Section 14 Business Account Rules apply equally to NGO accounts, with the exception of subscription pricing.
18. User Safety
18.1 Meeting Other Users In Person
PocketPaw does not conduct identity / background / criminal-record checks. For any in-person meeting (PawMate, PawMunity event, dog-park meet-up, business booking, or otherwise):
- Choose a public, well-populated location. Avoid private residences / isolated areas, especially for first meetings.
- Tell a trusted person where you're going and who you're meeting.
- Trust your instincts; leaving is always okay.
- PocketPaw bears no responsibility for offline conduct.
18.2 Protecting Your Privacy
- Don't share home address, workplace, financial info, or government ID via the app.
- Be thoughtful about what personal info is in your public PawFile.
- Make your PawFile private anytime in Settings.
18.3 Minors
Minimum age 13 (or higher in your jurisdiction). Parents and guardians: supervise your child's use.
18.4 Emergency
For immediate danger, contact local emergency services. PocketPaw cannot provide emergency assistance.
18.5 Dog Interaction Safety
You are solely responsible for assessing your dog's temperament, controlling its conduct, and any injury caused — whether via PawMate, PawMunity events, Dog Parks, business visits, Walk / Hike, or any other surface.
18.6 Walk / Hike Outdoor Safety
- Comply with local leash laws and off-leash designations.
- Aware of traffic, weather, terrain, and wildlife.
- Don't use your phone in a way that distracts from your dog or surroundings.
18.7 Voice Assistants & App Intents
If you have enabled Siri / Apple Intelligence / Apple Watch / Shortcuts integration with PocketPaw, voice commands like "Hey Siri, start a walk with PocketPaw" can begin GPS tracking. This means someone with access to your unlocked device can start GPS recording. Treat your unlocked device accordingly, and review your Siri privacy settings.
19. Reporting Content or Users
19.1 In-App Reporting
On any post, PawFile, message, event, business profile, product, dog park review, PawTime card, map pin, or user: 1. Tap the three-dot menu (⋯); 2. Select "Report"; 3. Choose the reason; 4. Optionally add context.
19.2 Email Reporting
safety@nextpath.hk.
19.3 Auto-Takedown Threshold
3 or more reports on PawPicks products / PawMunity posts and events / PawTime cards / Lost reports / Dog Park reviews / map pins / business reviews → auto-hidden pending admin or moderator review. Admins / moderators may reinstate content if a review finds no violation.
19.4 Blocking
Block any user; they cannot view your profile, send PawMate requests, send PawBark messages, send PawMail, react to your posts, comment on your posts, or RSVP to your events. Blocking does not auto-report — please also submit a report if a violation occurred.
20. Our Review Process
- Acknowledge receipt where contact info is provided;
- Assess severity and category;
- Review against Guidelines and Terms of Service;
- Take proportionate enforcement;
- Notify affected user where applicable.
Review timelines: - Critical reports (animal abuse, minor exploitation, imminent harm, CSAM): 24 hours; - Standard reports (harassment, spam, prohibited content): 72 hours; - Complex cases (legal matters, coordinated abuse, leaderboard / referral manipulation pattern analysis): up to 14 days.
PawMunity forum content may be acted on earlier by region moderators and breed-board moderators within their assigned scope; PocketPaw admin retains final authority.
21. Enforcement Actions
Proportionate enforcement. We may take one or more of:
- Content Removal of the offending item;
- Warning to the user (recorded);
- Feature Restriction — posting, messaging, RSVP, business announcements, PawTime card creation, Referral bonus accrual, leaderboard eligibility, etc.;
- Temporary Suspension (24 hours to 30 days);
- Permanent Ban (preventing re-registration with the same or linked credentials);
- Subscription Cancellation (for Business accounts breaching Section 14);
- Revocation of Referral Bonus (for Section 12 violations);
- Walk / Hike Record Deletion + Leaderboard Disqualification (for Section 6.3 / 9.5 violations);
- Legal Referral to appropriate authorities where the conduct involves or may involve illegal activity.
21.1 Immediate Permanent Termination (Zero-Tolerance)
- Animal abuse, cruelty, or facilitation;
- CSAM / sexual exploitation of minors;
- Credible threats of serious physical violence;
- Commercial sale of animals (Section 3);
- Ban evasion;
- Misrepresentation of NGO or Business status (e.g. false vet clinic claim);
- Operating a fraudulent Business account designed to defraud users;
- Coordinated, large-scale manipulation of leaderboards / reactions / referrals / search.
21.2 Enforcement Consistency
We apply these Guidelines consistently and without discrimination. Context matters — the same content may be treated differently depending on intent and circumstances.
22. Appeals
Appeal within 14 days of notification.
- Email: appeals@nextpath.hk
- Subject: "Account Appeal – [Your Account Email]"
Include: - Registered email; - The enforcement action; - Reasons you believe the action was incorrect or disproportionate; - Supporting evidence.
Reviewed within 14 days. Our decision on appeals is final.
Not appealable: permanent bans for CSAM, animal abuse, or other illegal content.
23. Updates to These Guidelines (Including Re-Consent for Material Updates)
We may update these Guidelines from time to time.
- Material changes (new community rules, new moderation models, new enforcement actions, new auto-takedown surfaces): notice via in-app banner and / or email ≥14 days before effect (or ≥30 days for EEA / UK / Quebec). For sufficiently material changes — including the move from Version 1.0 to this Version 2.0 — continued use is not sufficient consent; you must tap "I accept" in-app before continuing to use affected community features.
- Non-material changes (clarifications, typos, contact-info updates): we update the "Last updated" date.
You may view both the current version and Version 1.0 at Settings → Legal → Community Guidelines → Version history.
