Community Guidelines & Moderation Policy

Our community standards and how we enforce them

Policy Version: 2.0 | Last updated: 23 May 2026 | Effective date: 23 May 2026

🆕 Notice for Existing Users. This is Version 2.0 of our Community Guidelines and is a material update from Version 1.0 (dated 19 April 2026), reflecting the new community features released with the PocketPaw v2.0 app (PawMunity Forum with reactions / search / leaderboards, two-tier moderation, RSVP Events, PawTime, PawMail, Walk / Hike GPS, Dog Parks community, Referrals). If you registered before 23 May 2026 and only accepted Version 1.0, you must accept this Version 2.0 in the app before you can continue using the community features. New users joining on or after 23 May 2026 accept Version 2.0 directly during sign-up.

PocketPaw is a community built around a shared love of dogs. We want it to be a positive, safe, and respectful space for dog owners, shelters, NGOs, dog-related businesses, and every dog who gets their own PawFile. These Community Guidelines & Moderation Policy ("Guidelines") set out what we expect from all members, what content is not permitted, and how we handle violations.

These Guidelines apply to all content, communications, and conduct within the PocketPaw service on iOS, Android, and pocketpawapp.com — including PawRadar / PawRadar 2.0, PawMate / PawMatch / PawBark, PawHeart, PawHub (including Walk / Hike GPS tracking and Growth Marks), PawPicks, PawAdvisor, PawMunity (Forum + Events + reactions + search + leaderboards), PawTime, PawMail, Referrals, Dog Parks community, business profiles (PawPRO / PawPRO+), and all PawFile content.

Use of PocketPaw is also subject to our Terms of Service (Version 2.0) and Privacy Policy (Version 2.0). Violations of these Guidelines may also constitute violations of our Terms of Service.

1. Our Community Values

2. Content Standards

2.1 What We Encourage

2.2 Prohibited Content

The following are strictly prohibited:

🐕 Animal Welfare Violations — abuse, neglect, cruelty, dog fighting, exploitation, endangerment.

🚫 Harmful, Illegal, or Dangerous Content — unlawful in HK / CA (current v2.0 markets) or any other operating jurisdiction; illegal substances; fraud / scams / phishing; disinformation; suicide / self-harm / eating-disorder promotion.

💬 Harassment, Hate Speech & Threats — bullying; hate speech based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, etc.; threats of violence; coordinated pile-on harassment.

🔍 Privacy Violations & Doxxing — sharing PII without consent; posting people without permission; recording private spaces without consent.

📢 Spam, Scams & Deception — bulk messaging / unsolicited ads (except Business accounts within Section 14 rate limits); impersonation; fake profiles / posts / events / business profiles / product entries / dog park reviews; coordinated inauthentic behaviour; review / RSVP / reaction manipulation; mass-reporting abuse; hidden keyword stuffing in forum posts intended to manipulate full-text search.

🔞 Adult & Graphic Content — sexually explicit material; graphic violence / gore; content inappropriate for general audience without warnings.

👶 Minors' Safety — exploitation, endangerment, sexualisation of anyone under 18; grooming; CSAM (immediately reported to NCMEC / equivalent agencies and law enforcement).

3. Animal Sales Prohibition

Strictly and absolutely prohibited. PawHeart is exclusively for non-commercial rehoming and adoption.

Prohibited: - Requesting payment in exchange for a dog (any framing — "rehoming fee," "vaccination cost," "transport fee"); - Facilitating a commercial breeding operation; - Advertising dogs for sale or soliciting buyers; - Linking to external sales platforms.

Applies equally to PawMunity Forum posts and Events and to any other surface (PawBark, PawMail, business profiles) — no workarounds.

4. PawHeart Rules (Adopt / Rehome / Lost — Rehome now PawVIP-only)

4.1 PawHeart is a pure-intermediary platform

PocketPaw does not screen, verify, vouch for, or guarantee any listing, listing party, or adoption arrangement. We provide a free informational channel. All adoption arrangements are made directly between listing party and adopter, at their own risk. Use the in-app Report scam affordance on every post if you see anything suspicious.

4.2 Adopt Tab

4.3 Rehome Tab — v2.0 update: PawVIP-only posting

4.4 Lost Tab — self-serve

5. PawBark Messaging Rules

PawBark is a 1:1 messaging feature between accepted PawMates (and, in v2.0, with bookmarked PawPRO / PawPRO+ merchants subject to merchant opt-in).

Prohibited via PawBark: - Soliciting money / financial info / gifts; - Unsolicited sexual / romantic messages; - Spam, harassment, threats; - Phishing / scam links; - Anything prohibited under Section 2.2.

Safety reminder. Don't share sensitive PII via PawBark.

⚠️ Scam alert. Report suspected scams at safety@nextpath.hk or in-app. PocketPaw will never request money or financial information via in-app messages.

Non-VIP: 5 messages/day. VIP: unlimited.

6. PawHub Rules (Including Walk / Hike GPS Tracking)

6.1 Health Data & Documents

6.2 Walk / Hike GPS Tracking

6.3 Leaderboard Honesty

PocketPaw's PawMunity leaderboards (Section 9.5) include a "most-walked dog" board derived from Walk / Hike data. Inflating walks by leaving GPS running on a stationary device, driving with the app, or any other artificial method is platform manipulation and may result in record deletion, leaderboard disqualification, or account action.

7. PawPicks Rules

PawPicks is a community-driven product database and review system.

Product Submission Standards. Accurate and truthful information. Deliberately false / misleading / fabricated submissions are a serious violation.

Prohibited submissions: - Products not related to dogs / pet care; - Illegal / dangerous / harmful products; - Duplicate entries (use the existing listing); - Submissions made solely for promotional / spam purposes; - Products promoting cruelty or exploitation.

Review Standards. Honest, based on personal experience.

Prohibited review practices: - Fake reviews (products you didn't use); - Paid / incentivised reviews without disclosure; - Coordinated manipulation; - Abusive / harassing content in reviews; - Spam / ads / external commercial links; - Personal info about other users.

Community Moderation Tools. Use Disagree Information and Duplicated buttons responsibly. Coordinated misuse (organising groups to flag legitimate products) is platform manipulation.

Tier Border. Silver / gold border on product cards based on the creator's PawPRO subscription tier. Tier indicator only — not a PocketPaw endorsement.

Nutrition Information Warning. User-contributed; NOT verified by PocketPaw or any regulator.

8. PawAdvisor Rules

PawAdvisor is a PawVIP-exclusive AI assistant with two surfaces: Chat and Insight (periodic AI-generated summary).

AI Limitations. May be inaccurate, outdated, incomplete, or inappropriate. PocketPaw doesn't verify or endorse AI output.

Not Professional Advice. Not veterinary / medical / professional advice — applies to both Chat and Insight.

Responsible Use. - Acknowledge the in-app disclaimer each Chat session; - Independently verify before acting; - Not for emergencies — call your vet; - No attempts to manipulate, jailbreak, or extract instructions / training data; - No content violating these Guidelines.

Data Awareness. PawAdvisor uses your dog's PawFile + PawHub data; sent to a third-party AI; may be processed outside your country.

9. PawMunity Rules (Forum, Reactions, Search, Leaderboards, Events)

9.1 Forum Rules

9.2 Reactions (❤️ Support / ❓ Reservation)

Forum posts are indexed via automatically derived search tokens. Hidden-keyword stuffing or other search manipulation is a violation (Section 9.1).

9.4 Board Covers

Board cover images are managed by admins and moderators. Don't request inappropriate or misleading covers.

9.5 Leaderboards

PawMunity surfaces weekly and monthly leaderboards (most-walked dog / most friends / most-active breed board). Manipulating leaderboards via fake walks (see Section 6.3), sock-puppet PawMates (see Section 12), or coordinated boosting is a serious violation. Leaderboards are recomputed periodically; entries appear and disappear based on real activity.

9.6 Event Rules

9.7 Two-Tier Forum Moderators

9.8 Offline Conduct

PocketPaw does not conduct background checks on event organisers or attendees. Meet in public, well-populated locations. Section 18 applies fully to in-person meetings arranged via PawMunity.

10. PawTime Rules

Community-shared activity-card library accessible from PawMate. Cards describe activities you can do with your dog (mental / physical / both, with difficulty level).

11. PawMail Rules

12. Referral Programme Rules

The Referral programme grants bonus PawVIP time to both the referrer and the referred user when the referred user becomes a PawMate.

13. Dog Parks Community Rules

PawRadar 2.0 surfaces community-curated dog parks with reviews, favourites, and an hourly-traffic chart.

14. Business Account Rules (PawPRO / PawPRO+)

These rules supplement (and do not replace) the rest of these Guidelines.

14.1 Accurate Business Information

14.2 Pre-Seeded Pin Claims

Use "Claim This Business" in-app. False / fraudulent claims = permanent ban.

14.3 Announcements

14.4 Reviews

14.5 Promo Codes, Loyalty Cards & Bookings

14.6 Active Dashboard Naming Discipline

14.7 No Vet-Specific Health Data

Even vet clinics will not receive individual user health data. Vets use PawPRO for marketing exposure only.

14.8 No Animal Sales via Business Profile

Section 3 applies fully.

14.9 No Misuse of Analytics

Aggregated analytics not for identifying / contacting / off-platform targeting. De-anonymisation attempts = serious violation.

15. PawRadar Status Ring (Set Honestly)

Every PawFile carries a PawRadar status ring that signals to other users how to approach your dog:

Set this honestly. Knowingly marking an aggressive or reactive dog "Green" to attract meet-ups is a material violation — it puts other dogs and people at risk and may result in account action. If your dog's behaviour varies, choose the more cautious indicator.

16. Profile Authenticity

17. NGO & Shelter Account Rules

18. User Safety

18.1 Meeting Other Users In Person

PocketPaw does not conduct identity / background / criminal-record checks. For any in-person meeting (PawMate, PawMunity event, dog-park meet-up, business booking, or otherwise):

18.2 Protecting Your Privacy

18.3 Minors

Minimum age 13 (or higher in your jurisdiction). Parents and guardians: supervise your child's use.

18.4 Emergency

For immediate danger, contact local emergency services. PocketPaw cannot provide emergency assistance.

18.5 Dog Interaction Safety

You are solely responsible for assessing your dog's temperament, controlling its conduct, and any injury caused — whether via PawMate, PawMunity events, Dog Parks, business visits, Walk / Hike, or any other surface.

18.6 Walk / Hike Outdoor Safety

18.7 Voice Assistants & App Intents

If you have enabled Siri / Apple Intelligence / Apple Watch / Shortcuts integration with PocketPaw, voice commands like "Hey Siri, start a walk with PocketPaw" can begin GPS tracking. This means someone with access to your unlocked device can start GPS recording. Treat your unlocked device accordingly, and review your Siri privacy settings.

19. Reporting Content or Users

19.1 In-App Reporting

On any post, PawFile, message, event, business profile, product, dog park review, PawTime card, map pin, or user: 1. Tap the three-dot menu (⋯); 2. Select "Report"; 3. Choose the reason; 4. Optionally add context.

19.2 Email Reporting

safety@nextpath.hk.

19.3 Auto-Takedown Threshold

3 or more reports on PawPicks products / PawMunity posts and events / PawTime cards / Lost reports / Dog Park reviews / map pins / business reviews → auto-hidden pending admin or moderator review. Admins / moderators may reinstate content if a review finds no violation.

19.4 Blocking

Block any user; they cannot view your profile, send PawMate requests, send PawBark messages, send PawMail, react to your posts, comment on your posts, or RSVP to your events. Blocking does not auto-report — please also submit a report if a violation occurred.

20. Our Review Process

  1. Acknowledge receipt where contact info is provided;
  2. Assess severity and category;
  3. Review against Guidelines and Terms of Service;
  4. Take proportionate enforcement;
  5. Notify affected user where applicable.

Review timelines: - Critical reports (animal abuse, minor exploitation, imminent harm, CSAM): 24 hours; - Standard reports (harassment, spam, prohibited content): 72 hours; - Complex cases (legal matters, coordinated abuse, leaderboard / referral manipulation pattern analysis): up to 14 days.

PawMunity forum content may be acted on earlier by region moderators and breed-board moderators within their assigned scope; PocketPaw admin retains final authority.

21. Enforcement Actions

Proportionate enforcement. We may take one or more of:

  1. Content Removal of the offending item;
  2. Warning to the user (recorded);
  3. Feature Restriction — posting, messaging, RSVP, business announcements, PawTime card creation, Referral bonus accrual, leaderboard eligibility, etc.;
  4. Temporary Suspension (24 hours to 30 days);
  5. Permanent Ban (preventing re-registration with the same or linked credentials);
  6. Subscription Cancellation (for Business accounts breaching Section 14);
  7. Revocation of Referral Bonus (for Section 12 violations);
  8. Walk / Hike Record Deletion + Leaderboard Disqualification (for Section 6.3 / 9.5 violations);
  9. Legal Referral to appropriate authorities where the conduct involves or may involve illegal activity.

21.1 Immediate Permanent Termination (Zero-Tolerance)

21.2 Enforcement Consistency

We apply these Guidelines consistently and without discrimination. Context matters — the same content may be treated differently depending on intent and circumstances.

22. Appeals

Appeal within 14 days of notification.

Include: - Registered email; - The enforcement action; - Reasons you believe the action was incorrect or disproportionate; - Supporting evidence.

Reviewed within 14 days. Our decision on appeals is final.

Not appealable: permanent bans for CSAM, animal abuse, or other illegal content.

We may update these Guidelines from time to time.
